New York (3)
A very small sample of the vibrant life I led in Brooklyn. It was full of color and noise. -
Worldwide Selects (33)
These are the moments I like to come back to. -
Illinois+ (4)
Reporting on the food system and going to grad school in the hypnotic corn fields of Champaign, Illinois. -
Japan (17)
I lived in Ojiya-shi in Niigata, Japan in the Alps for two beautiful years. Clean water and fine rice make this region a sake-producing mecca--also a place for cayoning, snowboarding and surfing. -
Vietnam (27)
Industrious, forward, quick to laugh, quick to forgive. I truly covered Vietnam-from the southern most tip of the Mekong delta to the heavenly heights of Sapa on the Chinese border. -
Thailand (17)
Thailand makes humans happy. Some combination of stunning landscape, Miraculous food, infectuous laidback attitude... -
Papua New Guinea (11)
After raising some money in Japan, a group headed deep into the jungles of Papua New Guinea to build a house, and to be inducted into a local tribe. And, of course, to have wild boar slaughtered in our honor. -
Laos (3)
From a dirt landing strip at an experimental ecotourism industry to the cheeky monks in the cultural heart, Laos is fantastic. Many photos were lost. -
Cambodia (11)
Positive and warm against all odds, Cambodia extended itself to me. -
China (8)
A very brief encounter with a very deep, ancient culture. -
Australia (9)
Vast empty stretches and dense, friendly metropolises. Lovely, lovely Australia. -
Malaysia and Borneo (15)
Getting lost in a rainforest, scheming with a medicine man, understanding what it means to be Indian, Chinese, Muslim and indigenious--in other words, Malaysian. Oh, and 10 plane rides with less than 10 passengers. . -
India (65)
From a camel safari on the Pakistani border in Rajasthan to backwater cruising in far-flung Karela, and every where in between, this is the rich, colorful sub-continent.
